About FleetCheck

FleetCheck makes fleet management software used by UK businesses of every size, from small firms with a handful of vans to national HGV operators. Customers include Krispy Kreme and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The platform keeps vehicle and driver records in one place, alongside a driver walkaround-check app, licence checking and workshop inspection tools. It is ISO 27001 accredited and the FORS-recommended fleet management system.

What they needed

We built FleetCheck’s original website in 2015 and looked after it for the next eleven years. Over that time the company grew from a single product to a full suite, and its buyers widened: an office manager who has just been handed the company vans, an experienced transport manager, and an O-licence holder worried about compliance. The website had to keep pace, speaking to each of them and turning visits into free trials and demo bookings.

Growing the site with the business

Rather than a one-off build, this was a long-running partnership. As FleetCheck launched new products such as the driver app, licence checking and workshop inspections, we added pages and features to match, while keeping the site fast, secure and up to date.

We wrote bespoke WordPress plugins where off-the-shelf options fell short. One gives each blog category its own custom design, so articles, whitepapers and press releases are instantly recognisable. Another formats every page title correctly and consistently across the site. We also integrated the site with HubSpot so that trial sign-ups, demo requests and downloads flow straight into the sales team’s CRM.

Planning the site

The site’s current structure starts from the visitor rather than the product:

  • How do you manage? A separate route for small businesses, fleet managers and O-licence holders
  • Why FleetCheck? Each problem they solve, such as vehicle, driver and asset management, compliance and reporting, plus each product
  • Pricing
  • Resources: articles, whitepapers, case studies, webinars and free tools such as a fleet health check and ROI calculator
  • Log in for existing customers

With so many pages, the navigation was the key design decision: large drop-down menus group everything so that any page is two clicks from anywhere.

The build

  • Start free trial and Get a demo buttons on the homepage and throughout
  • Customer success stories and quotes from named fleet managers
  • Trustpilot and Google ratings near the top of the homepage
  • A resources hub the marketing team updates themselves
  • Sales and support numbers, and the customer log-in, in the header
